Pedro Horrillo

Pedro Horrillo Muñoz ( born September 27, 1974 in Eibar ) is a retired Spanish road bicycle racer.

Life

Pedro Horrillo began his career in 1998 with the cycling team Vitalicio Seguros. His first stage victory he could obtain during the 2000 Tour of Portugal. Then he moved to the Italian- Belgian team Mapei - Quick · Step. In four years, he won stages at the Euskal Bizikleta, the UNIQA Classic and at Paris- Nice. As of 2005 drove Horrillo for the Dutch ProTour team Rabobank. In the Tour of Catalonia, he was able to celebrate a stage win.

16 May 2009 Horrillo crashed hard in the eighth stage of the Giro d' Italia 2009. When the Passo San Pietro Culmine departure he broke through a barrier and plunged 60 feet into a ravine. He survived but was seriously injured.

In January 2010, the Spaniard announced his career as a professional cyclist to quit because he could not build on its previous achievements after the fall.
