Pedro Reinel

Pedro Reinel (* end of the 15th century; † ca 1542) was a Portuguese cartographer.

He asked the oldest signed chart around 1485 ago. This PORTOLAN shows parts of Western Europe, parts of North West Africa and also provides the discoveries of Diogo Cão 1482-1485 dar. Together with his son Jorge Reinel and the cartographer Lopo Homem, he had part in the creation of the well-known Miller Atlas ( 1519). His Atlantic card is the first nautical chart with a scale and compass rose.
