Pedro Romero

Pedro Romero Martínez ( born November 19, 1754 Ronda, Malaga Province, † February 10, 1839 in Spain) was a Spanish bullfighter.

Life

Pedro Romero Martínez came from a bullfighter Dynasty. His grandfather, Francisco Romero, his father Juan Romero and his two brothers José and Antonio were Toreros. From 1771 he participated regularly in the presence of his father at bullfights in Algeciras and Seville. Besides Costillares and Pepe Xinlong he soon became one of the best bullfighters of his time. 1776, he has already killed 285 a year. Until his retirement in 1799 he is said to have killed 5558 during its bullfights.

He then managed a bullfighting school in Seville. One last time he went in 1831 at the age of 77 years in honor of the Spanish Queen Isabella II in the ring of the bull ring of Madrid.
