Peek-a-Boo (boxing style)

The " Peek-a -Boo " boxing style ( " Peek-a- Boo" derived from the "Look Look " children's game in which the hands cover the face and after they are briefly folded to the side, is called "Look Look ") is a kind of boxing, in which the hands are held in front of the face of the boxer. It provides additional protection for the face and makes hitting with the jab, called the jab to the face of the enemy. The style allows for fast neck movements, fast crouch and hard knocks during the backward movement by uppercut.

" Peek-a -Boo " boxes was developed by the trainer Cus D' Amato. The lower arms are held in front of the face. The fists are on Nasen-/Augenhöhe, adverse to the normal style in which the fists are located at the level of the chin. The guiding hand of thumb is forward slightly and the impact dolly directly on the chin.

Other characteristics are rapid back and forth movements (oscillation ) with the head or the torso, rapid up and down movements ( Duck ) with the upper body and combined horizontal and vertical avoidance maneuver to let beat the opponent into the void.

Training

The beating of combinations is mediated by a number system. These are practiced at fixed impact cushions or on the sand bag ( printed with number system ) until the fighter is capable of hitting fast combinations.

The numbers are printed in the following order:

7 1 2 3 4 5 6 Each number on the sandbag corresponds to a particular shock:

  • 7 = jab to the face ( Jab )
  • 1 = Left hook to the head ( chin)
  • 2 = Right Straight to the head ( chin)
  • 3 = Left uppercut
  • 4 = Right uppercut
  • 5 = Left body hook
  • 6 = Right Body Hook
