Peer Baierlein

Peer Baierlein ( born May 16, 1972 in Stuttgart ) is a German musician.

Life

Baierlein began seven years playing the accordion before switching to the trumpet at age nine. After a few years in the local music club followed in 1988 studies as a young student at the Cologne Music Academy, where he later received his diploma as a music teacher and orchestra musician with Malte Burba. During this time Baierlein was also a student of Arno Lange at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

In 1996 he went to Belgium to study with Bert Joris on Lemmensinstituut jazz. He interrupted his studies in 2000 for a one-year stay in New York City before he took his degree in meester in de muziek 2002. It was followed by a further study with the specialty lead trumpet. In 2004, he began classical composition with Piet Swerts study, followed by further studies of film music and orchestration with Denis Pousseur, Victor Kissine and Jean -Luc Fafchamps.

Baierlein played with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Kurt Van Herck, Ron Van Rossum, Emil Mangelsdorff and Dré Pallemaerts. He played in Belgium at the festivals Jazz Middelheimmuseum (2001: Maria Schneider Big Band Workshop), Gaume Jazz Festival (2004: Jazzisfaction ), Park Jazz Kortrijk (2006: Jazzisfaction ) and Jazz in 't park (2005: Jazzisfaction, 2006: Electric Miles Project).

Since 2006 he has been a guest on trumpet Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
