Peguera

Peguera ( unofficially Castilian Paguera ) is a tourist resort in the southwest of the Balearic island of Mallorca. It belongs to the municipality of Calvià.

Tourism

The place Peguera is dominated by hotels, apartment houses, and dining facilities. The majority of tourists come to visit the Peguera from German speaking countries. Peguera is visited in high season mainly by German families. In the low season are predominantly German retirees and middle-aged groups locally. The entertainment is aligned according to German vacationers.

In recent years, various changes in the central area of ​​the town were made, including Sandaufschüttung at the Palmira beach, construction of a bypass road and other traffic calming measures. The Bulevar de Peguera, the central promenade with numerous small shoe, clock and handbag shops as well as restaurants and souvenir shops is from 19 clock almost car-free and then turns into a pedestrian zone. In the 1980s, the road was still passable in both directions and entertainment establishments ( nightclubs and similar ) with the accompanying symptoms dominated the streetscape. The above measures have had a positive impact on tourism. Due to a lack of other employment opportunities it has a significant economic importance for the place for decades.

Beaches

The place has the Platja Palmira, Platja de Torah and the Platja de la Romana with a total of three beaches. The beaches are long, flat into the water and are therefore also suitable for smaller children. All three beaches are monitored during the day in the peak season by lifeguards. The beaches are connected by a promenade.

Environment

The surrounding area hiking opportunities found in the hilly hinterland with pine forests. Furthermore there are a number of sports and leisure activities to choose from.

Traffic

Every day there until the evening hours, a regular bus service to Palma. Since March 2007, the highway MA-1 is completed by Andratx to Palma, so that there is a quick link to the island's capital. The center of Palma is about 24 kilometers from the center of Andratx about 8 kilometers away.
