Pehernefer

Pehernefer (also Peher - nefer written ) was an Egyptian official who worked in the transitional period from the 3rd to the 4th dynasty dynasty during the Old Kingdom. He served the kings ( pharaohs ) Huni ( end of the 3rd Dynasty ) and Sneferu ( beginning of the 4th Dynasty).

Identity

Pehernefer was, according to his grave inscriptions, among other things, " head of the treasury " ( Egyptian name IMJ -ra per- Hedj ) "seal carrier of the treasury " ( Egyptian name Herj - sedjaut per- Hedj ), " controller of the audience hall " ( the Egyptian name Cherep djech ) " overseer of all the works of the King" ( the Egyptian name IMJ -ra kat -neb inet- nesu ) and " overseer of the royal vineyards " ( Egyptian name IMJ -ra schenut -neb inet- nesu ). He was also " administrator of the royal Palatinate ' Horus, the blessed star in the sky ' " ( Egyptian name Adj- mer Hor seba - chentj - pet), "Administrator of the Western Desert " ( the Egyptian name Adj- mer SeMet Imentet ) and " Governor of Busiris " ( Egyptian name Hatia djedu ). Unique to the 3 / 4 Dynasty is Pehernefers priest title " priest of Set - of - Sethroë " ( Egyptian name rights Sutekh - STR.T ).

About his family nothing is known. High-level counterpart of his time were Chabausokar, Achtiaa and Metjen. From her grave inscriptions obtained show that Egypt under the kings Huni and Sneferu apparently experienced a period of prosperity and the management system flourished. High offices were strictly performed and were only transferable through inheritance.

Grave

Pehernefers grave is considered lost. It was then located at Saqqara - North, got lost. Receive only the visible signs of grave inscriptions, the French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero published in 1893 and studied and translated by the German Egyptologist Hermann Junker 1939.
