Pelagio Galvani

Pelagius of Albano (also Paio Galvão, Pelagio Galvani, Pelagius of St. Lucia, Pelagius Albanensis ) (* 1165, † January 30, 1230 in Monte Cassino ) was a Spanish Benedictine, Cardinal, and canon law. He was papal legate of the Fifth Crusade.

Pelagius studied theology in Paris. Under Pope Innocent III. Pelagius was in 1206 or 1207 Cardinal and Bishop of Albano in 1213. He was Cardinal Dean since 1227. 1213 he traveled as an envoy of the Pope to Constantinople Opel. After him Pope Honorius III. was used as the leader of the Fifth Crusade, he joined in August 1218 to the Crusaders who are just besieged the Egyptian city of Damietta.
