The Rio Pelotas is a river in southern Brazil and a source of the Rio Uruguay.

The river rises on the Alto do Bispo in São Joaquim National Park in the Serra Geral, where this meets the Serra do Mar, and flows 437 km to the northwest, before its confluence with the Canoas, to form the Rio Uruguay. The Pelotas is on long haul the border between the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

On Pelotas began in 2004 with the construction of the Barra Grande project, a large dam with a hydroelectric plant. The dam project has caused major protests by local residents and international environmental groups.
