The Apfelflechte ( Peltigera aphthous ) is a leaf-shaped lichen.

Description

The lobes of the bearing between two and four inches tall and are wet with pure green color, dry brown green to gray- green. The algal layer is made of green algae. Striking dark nests from cyanobacteria, called cephalodia, cyanobacteria of the genus Nostoc are included. The bearing base is spongy - tomentose and has no or only faint veins which, in contrast to Peltigera leucophlebia, towards the center of the bearing are abruptly dark. The bearing edge is bright, otherwise uniform brown-black.

Location

The lichen grows in the high mountains ( alpine subalpine to documents) and in the tundra moss, humus rich moist raw humus or soil in dwarf shrub heaths and open woods between blocks in humid locations.
