Pem Dorjee Sherpa

Pemba Dorjee Sherpa is a Nepalese Sherpa, who has been a Höhensherpa for Himalayan expeditions. He is regarded as the fastest climber of Mount Everest. After he reached the summit via the south route after 12 hours and 46 minutes on 23 May 2003, the speed record was offered just three days later Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa (10 hours and 46 minutes). On 21 May of the following year Pemba Dorjee mastered at the age of 27 years, the distance from the base camp to the summit in 8 hours and 10 minutes. However, there are no eyewitnesses for this record, as Pemba Dorjee was traveling alone on this day. Clearly documented is its start time. At the summit, he took with the liaison officer at the base camp radio contact and described there items that were left behind the day before by other climbers on the summit. The record was then challenged by his predecessor. According to a study by the Nepalese Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation but was officially recognized.
