Pema Chödrön

Pema Chodron ( wylie: pad ma chos sgron; * 1936 as Deirdre Blomfield -Brown in New York City ) is a Buddhist nun and writer. She was a student of Chogyam Trungpa, who in 1986 as Head of Gampo Abbey, a Tibetan monastery of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Vajrayana on the Canadian island of Cape Breton, appointed. This made her the first American woman who was appointed head of a Tibetan Buddhist monastery.

Pema Chodron teaches courses, seminars and retreats in Europe, Australia and the United States. In her books, she tries mostly represent the Buddhist teachings based on everyday situations. She takes into account as Atisha's " slogans for Training the Mind " ( lojong ).

Pema Chodron has two children and three grandchildren.
