Pen-y- ghent is a mountain in the Yorkshire Dales in Yorkshire in England and one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Location

Pen-y- ghent is 694 meters high and has a saddle height of 306 m. It is located about three kilometers east of the town Horton -in- Ribblesdale.

It lead different paths to the summit, which is part of the Three Peaks Walk. Also the Pennine Way passes over the mountain.

Name

The name of the mountain that has its roots in the Cumbrian language is not clearly translate, it probably means mountain on the border, but may also be called head of the wind. The spellings Pen y Ghent and Pen-y -Ghent are also possible.
