Pencycuron is a chemical compound from the group of phenylureas.

Production and representation

Pencycuron can then be recovered from the reaction of phenyl isocyanate with 4 -chlorobenzoyl chloride with cyclopentylamine as well.

Use

Pencyuron has been used since 1984 as a fungicide especially against Rhizoctonia solani. Pencycuron acts by inhibiting cell division.

Following the withdrawal of the marketing authorization application, the European Commission decided in December 2008 not to include Pencyuron in the list of allowed for crop protection agents. At a new request, Pencyuron was finally taken in 2011 but for uses as fungicide in this list. In Germany, Switzerland and Austria pesticides are registered with the drug pencycuron.
