Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana

Pendukeni Maria Iivula - Ithana ( born October 11, 1952 in Uukwandongo, Namibia ) is a Namibian SWAPO politician, general secretary of her party and since 1991 Minister in various departments, since 4 December 2012, Minister of the Interior.

Political career

Iivula - Ithana left Namibia in 1974 and went into exile. She was one of the first female fighters of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN; People's Liberation Army of Namibia). Upon her return she was from 1980 to 1991 chairman of the SWAPO Women's League, before she was appointed Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture. In 1996, she joined as a minister in the department of Lands and Resettlement. In 2001 she was Attorney General. From 2005 're in 2012 she was Minister of Justice of Namibia.

Training

Iivula - Ithana holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB ) (1999 ), and a B Juris (1998 ) at the University of Namibia. In addition, she holds a Diploma in Public Administration and Management of the United Nations Institute (1979, Zambia).
