Penetrating oil

As a penetrating oil, according to the respective market leaders in the German-speaking area often referred to as Caramba and in the U.S. as WD- 40, a light oil with low surface tension and water-repellent properties is called. There is usually mainly from petroleum.

Properties

Penetrants have their name from their property by the capillary action against gravity to penetrate into the smallest cracks and thereby to subvert dirt, oxides and moisture. Due to the rapid distribution as well as the lubricating and penetrating oil is effective water to make able, for example, otherwise unsolvable rusted screws in no time practicable. In addition, it produces a simple corrosion protection.

Contact spray

As a contact spray and penetrating oils are referred incorrectly. It is rather solvent cleaners with special additives to dissolve corrosion. Since contact spray dirt on principle only solves, its use can also lead to the distribution of the soil and contact problems only shift, rather than to solve them. For service work on sensitive electronic equipment special contact cleaning agents are used, which evaporate completely.

Rust Remover

Rust removers are penetrating oils, which are mainly used for repairs as an adjuvant to solve stuck screws and corroded metal compounds. It can also be assumed that any contact spray can also be used as a rust remover, but not vice versa.

Lubricant properties

The lubricant properties of Kriechölen are to substances that are optimized for lubrication, rather low. This is primarily due to the low surface tension and desired for other purposes creep. The creep regularly leads to a migration of oil from the lubrication point, with the result that the penetrating oil "everywhere" is found again and then is available for optimum lubrication in insufficient amount of a lubricating point. A too -lubricating bearing can " run dry " by the properties of Kriechöles even.
