Penken

The Penken

The Penken is a 2095 meter high mountain in the Tux Alps. He is on the west slope of the Zillertal valley and is about five kilometers west of Mayrhofen.

During the winter season boasts unlimited forms the core area of the ski area Zillertal 3000 and is served by many lifts, including the Finkenberg, which goes from the valley floor of the Tux valley to the summit of the mountain. In the summer months boasts unlimited forms a hiking area, over which runs a variety of designated trails.

History

The use of the Penken as a winter sports area began in 1954 with the establishment of Penkenbahn. Later followed other cable cars, so that the slopes of Penken have now ( with the exception of the flat expiring west side ) overbuilt with numerous lifts.
