Pentax K100D

The Pentax K100D is a digital SLR that came in August 2006 on the German market. It has a 6.31 - million-pixel CCD sensor, the effective resolution of 6.1 million pixels. There comes a 11- point autofocus system ( SAFOX VIII ) are used.

Of the digital Pentax - previous models, it differs mainly by the image stabilization system Shake Reduction. The image sensor is mounted movable and can compensate for this at the moment of release occurring camera movements. Because the system is integrated into the camera body, it is only a few exceptions with all available lenses can be used. First image stabilization system can electromagnetically driven not only compensate for horizontal and vertical movements, but also rotation around the image axis.

As a seeker, as now used in many entry-level DSLRs, a penta mirror. Its magnification is 0.85 at a 96 -percent field of view.

To preview the captured images a LC display with 2.5 " and 210,000 pixels.

The shutter speeds range from 1/4000 to 30 seconds and B ( Bulb: the shutter stays open as long as the trigger is pressed ). The manual and automatic adjustable light sensitivity ranges from ISO 200 up to ISO 3200. Together with a self-timer (2 seconds ) is a mirror lock-up possible. Also a Abblendmöglichkeit to the depth of field assessment is available. Remote tripping can take place via a wired or infrared remote control.

The weight of the camera is 560 g ( without batteries). It is 129.5 mm wide, 92.5 mm high and 70 mm deep.

By Pentax KAF lens mount - KAF2, KAF and KA- compatible lenses can be used with all automatic exposure features. Older lenses with the K bayonet and many customized via an adapter M42 lenses can be used with working aperture.

Like the Pentax * ist DL and unlike the Pentax * ist D and the Pentax K100D is * Ds support and later models no analog controlled TTL flash units more.

Pentax K110D

The sister model K110D is the lack of image stabilization system and the resulting lower power consumption ( reportedly up to 20%) identical to the K100D.

Pentax K100D Super

The presented in June 2007 K100D Super is largely identical to the K100D, but offers two new features - the First, a sensor cleaning ( Dust Removal System ) and secondly the support of the ultrasonic focus motor of the SDM lenses from Pentax. With the K100D Super and the unrestricted use of lenses with the so-called KAF3 bayonet is possible to have an autofocus motor, but can not be brought into focus by the camera motor.
