Pentti Holappa

Pentti Holappa ( born August 11, 1927 in Ylikiiminki ) is a Finnish writer.

Life

Holappa is already in his lifetime a classic of Finnish literature. He was chief editor of a newspaper, who owns a bookshop and 1972 Finnish Minister of Culture and Education. In 1950 he made ​​his debut with the poetry collection fool in the mirror. He has written several volumes of poetry, plays, six novels, diaries, essays and newspaper articles. As the only Scandinavian poet Holappa is a poem anthology, Les mots longues, in the prestigious series Poésie Gallimard, Paris, represented. In 1998 he was elected President of the Académie Européenne de Poésie.
