People's Viennaline

People's Vienna Line is an Austrian airline based in Vienna and based on the Swiss Airport St. Gallen- Altenrhein.

History

People's Vienna Line was founded in 2010 and started operations on 28 March 2011. It is a subsidiary of the airport Altenrhein, which operates under the name People's Business Airport, the (which also holds Air Operator Certificate ) is registered as a subsidiary of Airport Altenrhein AG with the official name Altenrhein Luftfahrt GmbH. The airline was established as part of the modernization program, as the new name People's Business Airport was introduced and construction was begun on a new terminal and a new hangar. The foundation should replace the currently the only scheduled flights connecting the airport to Vienna, which is flown by Austrian Airlines. After the launch of the project to build the airline, the airport announced the severance agreements with Austrian Airlines on 26 July 2011, just one day before the originally planned commencement of operations on 27 March 2011, which was then but postponed to March 28, 2011, what is announced on October 19, 2010.

Austrian, which the route since 2001 weekdays thrice daily with Bombardier Dash 8Q -400 flies, expressed disappointment over the decision to operate the route but due to the five -year notice period to 2015 on. Because of the action People's Vienna Line was strongly criticized. The airport defense was that Austrian Airlines had planned to set the connection.

On the morning of December 4, 2010 at 00:00 clock People's Vienna Line started the ticket sales, but not over the Internet. For the period between 4 December 2010 and the date on which the electronic booking system was put into operation via the Internet, the company offered a special rate for 150 euros each direction. Ticket sales via the Internet began on Friday, February 11, 2011.

In early 2011 the first aircraft was acquired. The machine, an Embraer 170 Finnair acquired from that can accommodate 76 passengers and 4 crew members and previously wore the air vehicle registration OH -LEO was, briefly, before she was transferred to the C-check. The machine received a new paint job and was presented on March 21 at Altenrhein Airport and christened with the name "Laura".

Destinations

People's Vienna Line has been flying since March 28, 2011 on weekdays and three times a day on Saturdays and Sundays once a day at Vienna's Schwechat Airport and back. In July and August 2011 some of these rotations were suspended due to a seasonal low capacity utilization.

In summer 2011, also a charter connection to Sardinia was offered. In the summer timetable 2014, the company will take over two charter flights for tour operators between Altenrhein and Olbia and Cagliari in Sardinia, which had previously been carried out by InterSky.
