Per Knut Aaland

Per Knut Aaland ( born September 5, 1954 in Innvik, Stryn ) is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier.

Aaland has specialized in his active career on distance races. His international debut was at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1974 Junior French Autrans. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1976 in Innsbruck, Austria, he reached the sixth place in the 50 km race. The breakthrough, however, it was not until 1977, when he won the title over 50 km at the national championships and was named as the best participant in the event. About 30 km he joined in 1980 at the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York, and reached the 16th place. Together with Lars Erik Eriksen, Ove Aunli and Oddvar Brå he won the silver medal in the relay race 4 x 10 km. In the years 1983 and 1987 he was a total of three times to reach the second place in World Cup race over 50 km.

After Aaland 1987 his active career ended, he was employed during the 1990s as a wax technician in Norwegian ski teams and participates today in the development and production of ski wax. Aaland has also been educated as a carpenter.
