Percale

PERCALINE, also Percaline ( Percale, Persian پرگاله pargālah ) is a finer mesh cotton. It can have different arrangements of the surface, for example a strong finish. Also, the surface may be gummed, to mimic leather. In part, it may therefore be difficult to distinguish from artificial leather.

It was used for linings and especially in the 19th century as a reference material for book covers from Verlagseinbänden. These are generally referred to as fabric tape.

Today it is used among other things as a reference material for upholstered furniture.
