Percy Oliver

Percival " Percy " Cole Oliver ( born April 1, 1919 in Nedlands City, Western Australia, † July 9, 2011 ) was an Australian swimmers who participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.

Life

Oliver, who attended Hale School in Nedlands City, was next to the swimmer Evelyn de Lacy, the first West Australian, who was included in the Australian Olympic team. At the 1936 Summer Olympics he was next on the Australian team and was named after a second place in the fifth lead and a third place in the first semifinal seventh in the final of the 100m freestyle in a time of 1:01,0 minutes.

In the British Empire Games in 1938 in Sydney, he won the gold medal in the 110- yard backstroke and a bronze medal in the so-called 3 x 110 Yards Medley. He also won a total of 13 Australian Champion title in the back and freestyle swimming.

After ending his active sports career, he became a teacher at the Mount Lawley Senior High School in Mount Lawley, a suburb of Perth, before he became head of the holiday swimming program of the Ministry of Education.
