Perfluorooctanesulfonamide ( PFOSA ) is a chemical compound belongs to the perfluorinated surfactants.
In the environment PFOSA can be converted to perfluorooctane sulfonate ( PFOS).
Representation
PFOSA can be obtained by the reaction of Perfluoroctansulfonsäurehalogeniden with liquid ammonia, or via a two step reaction via azide, followed by reduction with Zn / HCl are shown.
Use
N- alkyl -substituted Perfluoroctansulfonamide are used in photographic papers, in medical applications, as well as pesticides. PFOSA accumulates through the food chain ( bioaccumulation). It is believed that the biologically active form is PFOSA the insecticide sulfluramid (N- Ethylperfluoroctansulfomamid ).
