Performance measurement

The performance measurement of a company or business unit is one of the meanings of the term "Performance Measurement " from the English jargon often customary in the German business world.

Unlike a performance measurement system provides a performance measurement system is a management system that the ( multi-dimensional ) used performance measurement and management control. It therefore goes beyond the part of the functionality than a simple performance measurement system. Here, the measurement is based not only on traditional performance measures ( such as sales, profit, return on investment), but are rather a holistic view of many factors. In addition to traditional, purely financial indicators, for example, can the employee and customer satisfaction, number of new customers, performance and behavior of employees, turnover rates, etc. are observed and evaluated. Value-based performance measurement systems have a clearly defined key performance indicator, the Perfomancemaß on (eg, enterprise value, Economic Value Added), which is explained by the other figures; see performance ( risk management).

In theory and practice, a variety of performance measurement systems exist. The best known are:

  • The Balanced Scorecard,
  • The EFQM model
  • The Tableau de Bord
  • The Data Envelopment Analysis ( Dateneinhüllanalyse )
  • Skandia Navigator ( intellectual capital ).
