Perm (Computer)

The Programmable Electronic computing facility Munich ( PERM ) is a tube- based calculator, which was developed in the early '50s at the TU Munich.

It was built in 1952 under the direction of Professors Hans Piloty ( Institute of Electrical and Communications Engineering Metrology ) and Robert Sauer ( mathematics) and commissioned on 7 May 1956 in operation, initially in a restricted mode and even without magnetic tape storage. Including the first ALGOL compiler developed at the PERM.

( Put to sleep ) In 1974, the PERM was turned off; it is now on display at the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
