Pero

Pero (Greek Πηρώ ) In Greek mythology, a daughter of Neleus, king of Pylos, and Chloris, daughter of the king of Orchomenus, Amphion. She is the sister of Nestor, the Chromius and Periclymenus. Due to their outstanding beauty Pero was much courted. But her father only wanted to give to the man who would bring him the cattle of Iphicles. Bias, kindled in love with Pero, asked his brother Melampus, for him to steal the cattle, whereupon took in this. One tradition tradition following, Melampus reached after a year his goal after he had prophesied for Iphiklos and release him from his childlessness, and Pero was the bias married. According to another tradition according to Neleus gave his daughter out after a battle.

From the combination of Pero with bias originate Perialkes, Aretos and Alkesiboia or Alphesiboia. Other names mentioned are the Argonauts Talaus, Arios and Laodokos.

The fate of Pero is unknown. Bias later went with his brother to Argos and married Lysippe, a subsidiary of Proetus. Pero was shown in a painting Polygnotus in the Lesche of Delphi.
