Persis Khambatta

Persis Khambatta ( born October 2, 1948, after other sources of October 2, 1950 in Bombay, Maharashtra, † August 18, 1998 ) was an Indian model and actress.

Life

In 1965, Persis Khambatta was elected Miss India. This title should pave their way into the fashion world, it was, for example, a model for the cosmetics company Revlon.

For her acting debut in the Indian film Bombay Raat Ke Bahon Mein ( 1968) by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, she received a Critics Award as best young actress and was the first Miss India, which could hold as an actress in Bollywood walk of their choice.

In 1975 she got her first major by Ralph Nelson international film role opposite Michael Caine in the thriller The Wilby Conspiracy. Among her better known films include the drama shame of the regiment ( with Michael York), the action thriller Nighthawks ( with Sylvester Stallone ) and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. For her role as Lieutenant Ilia they had even cut their hair. In addition, Khambatta has guest appearances in several television series such as Hunter, MacGyver, Mike Hammer and 1993 in their last television role in the pilot episode of Superman - Lois & Clark.

In the early 1980s, heart disease was noted in Persis Khambatta, and she got a bypass. In 1998, she died suddenly of a heart attack in the naval hospital in Mumbai.
