PESA 120N

The Type 120N of the Polish manufacturer PESA is a continuous low-floor tram railcars.

History

The development of Type 120N began in November 2005 after a request by the Warsaw Transport services Tramwaje Warszawskie Sp Although there have been in Poland since 1995 with the Type Konstal 112N low-floor trams built, but they were only built in small numbers. Below also low-floor trams were imported in large numbers.

On 22 February 2006, the order of time being 15 copies of 120N was triggered by the Warsaw transport companies. In parallel, the 121N and 122N types for meterspurige Companies arose. 2007 were delivered to the Warsaw Transport services a total of 15 pieces of the basic version of 120N where they operate exclusively on line 9 since 20 August.

From the experience with these 15 units, the improved series 120Na was developed, which will be delivered from mid-2010 to Warsaw and Gdansk.

Technology

The 120N is a five-part articulated railcar with a low-floor area of 100%. In this case, only the sections 1, 3 and 5 have bogies, which are driven by only the outer ( sections 1 and 5). Sections 2 and 4 are executed floating and based on the joints on the adjacent sections from. Six swing-out doors (one single door in section 1 and 5, two double doors in section 2 and 4) ensure a rapid passenger.

Like most contemporary trams also got the 120N panoramic windows with tinted glass. The design of the front section designed as a crash -absorbing element with its thermoformed front window and the " Evil Eye " headlights lends the 120N - family for rail vehicles unusually sleek appearance.

The passenger information system consists of internal speakers together for the recorder stops announcement of bistable display elements front and sides of the car as well as of one-line LED displays in the passenger compartment.
