Pete Carpenter

Peter Clarence " Pete " Carpenter (* April 1, 1914; † 18 October 1987) was an American jazz trombonist, arranger and composer of numerous theme songs for television.

Life

Carpenter began his career as a composer for television shows such as Bewitched (1964) and the Andy Griffith Show ( 1966-1967 ). From 1968 he is working up to his death with Mike Post. Both had their breakthrough in 1974 with the theme song for The Rockford Files - Just call with James Garner. For this, they received a Grammy Award and was among the top ten in the U.S. Billboard charts.

Over the years they composed numerous theme songs, among others for CHiPs, Magnum, The Snoop, The A-Team, Hardcastle & McCormick, Riptide, Hunter, Stingray and Vanishing Point San Francisco.

Pete Carpenter was married and had two children.
