Pete Lockett
Pete Lockett, actually Peter Robert Lockett, ( born 1963 in Portsmouth, England ) is a British drummer, drummers and percussionist as well as composer, arranger and music producer. He became known among other things, numerous performances, both live and studio productions and film music in many musical genres as well as through its international cooperation projects.
He is known as " multi-percussionist " and as one of the " world's best percussionists " ( Rhythm Magazine: "best percussionist live 2005 ").
Career and work
Pete Lockett has worked as a musician since 1983. Since then, he worked with many musical genres, particularly in the area of rhythm. His percussive game includes, among other traditional Carnatic music and Hindustani music from North and South India, traditional taiko percussion instruments from Japan, blues, funk and rock to classical, folk and ethnic music, such as Arab music and electronic music.
He is considered very versatile and productive percussionist and worked both live and in the studio. In addition, Lockett also worked for the film industry; he arranged and played percussion music for a major Hollywood films such as the James Bond movies Quantum of Solace ( German title Quantum of Solace ) and Casino Royale, as well as for three previous Bond films, Die Another Day (German Die on another day ), The World Is not Enough (Eng. The world is not enough) and Tomorrow Never Dies (German Tomorrow Never Dies ). Lockett looked at other Hollywood blockbusters with music, such as in the City of Angels with Meg Ryan, The Insider with Al Pacino, Plunkett & Maclean with Robert Carlisle, The Bone Collector, starring Denzel Washington, Amazing Grace with Albert Finney, The Quiet American with Michael Caine, Moulin Rouge, starring Nicole Kidman, and in the Guy Ritchie film Snatch.
In addition, Lockett also worked for the Indian film industry, most recently in Chennai with AR Rahman for the hit movie from 2007, Sivaji with the Indian film star Rajinikanth. In addition, he also had numerous commissions for television and advertising.
Lockett joined the world in concerts and festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival, Bruges Festival and drum Musique Festival, the Rhythm Sticks in London, Kuala Lumpur, while Glasgow One World Festival, Pontardawe Festival, Belfast Festival, Guildford Festival, the Sufi Soul Festival and the Newbury Festival. He also gave solo concerts, which he designed as a multi-media shows, inter alia, in India as well as in Turkey; a show in Istanbul in 2007 was released as a live recording on CD. On international tours, he, among other appearances in Nepal, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Sudan, Malaysia, Hungary, Palestine, Israel, America and Canada, and several European countries had.
In many countries of the world, he taught percussion music or held lectures about how, among other things at the Royal College, at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music. He also gave percussion lessons at international workshops as well as seminars, and wrote over a hundred articles and tutorials for international journals such as Modern Drummer in the U.S., Drummer Magazine and Rhythm Magazine in the UK, Drums SA in South Africa. For the European The Mix Magazine, he wrote a series on drum and percussion programming with computers and sound modules.

Awards
Lockett was " best live percussionist 2005 " by the readers of leading British Rhythm Magazine as selected. At the international drum site mikedolbear.com he was "best percussionist 2005" as. His album, Taiko To Tabla with Joji Hirota was taken in August 2006 by Songlines magazine in its "top 55 rhythm albums af all time ".
