Péter Ács

Péter Ács [ pe ː ː tʃ tɛr a ] (born 10 May 1981 in Eger) is a Hungarian chess master.

Ács began his chess career in his youth: In 1992 he won in Rimavská Sobota the European Youth Championships U12, 1995, he finished in Verdun in eighth place at the European Championships U14. In 1998, he met three grandmaster norms and then got awarded by the FIDE Grand Master title. In 2001 he won in Athens superior to the Junior World Championship U20. He won tournaments in Budapest in 1998 and 1999, Wattens 1999, Hoogeveen 2002 ( before Judit Polgár, Loek van Wely and Alexander Khalifman ).

Since 1999 Ács plays for the German Bundesliga club chess Epping (until 2003 in the second, starting from the season 2004/ 05 in the first division ). Since 2000 Ács representing the Hungarian national team at the Chess Olympiads.

Ács is a student and lives in Paks.
