Peter Brian Wells

Peter Brian Wells ( born May 12, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States) is a diplomat of the Holy See.

Career

Wells completed his studies in philosophy at the St. Meinrad Seminary College in Indiana and the Catholic theology as a student at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. In 1990, he received his bachelor's degree in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, 1992, the licentiate in theology at the Pontifical Institute " John Paul II " for Studies on Marriage and Family in Rome in the year.

On 12 July 1991 he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tulsa. Subsequently, he was chaplain to the Holy Family of Nazareth in Tulsa and secretary to the bishop of Tulsa and Vicar for Religious Education of the Diocese Cathedral. In 1998 he graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Licentiate in Canon Law and was established in 1999 at the same university to Dr. iur. can. doctorate. At the same time he was a student of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.

He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 1999. He first became active in the Apostolic Nunciature in Nigeria and since 2002 in the Section of General Affairs of the Vatican Secretariat of State.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 16 July 2009 to the assessor of the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
