Peter Connolly

Peter Connolly ( born May 8, 1935 † May 2, 2012 ) was a British author, illustrator and expert on Greek and Roman history. He was especially known for his illustrated books for children and young people on issues of antiquity.

Peter Connolly was educated at Brighton College and published in 1975 with the Roman army, his first book. In 1984 he became a member of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and was meanwhile Research Fellow at Oxford and at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London.

Connolly was friends with the Indologist and scholar of religion Karel Werner, whose 60th birthday in 1986 he published a Festschrift, which appeared in India.
