Peter Gerber (politician)

Peter Gerber ( born June 8, 1923 in Frienisberg, † April 11, 2012, entitled home in Langnau im Emmental ) was a Swiss agronomist and politician ( SVP).

Life

Gerber attended schools in Baggwil, Aarberg and Bern. He studied from 1945 to 1949 Agronomy at the ETH Zurich. From 1951 to 1957 he was adjunct and 1957-1988 Manager of the retirement and nursing home Frienisberg.

1953 Gerber was elected ( the executive ) of Seedorf in the local council and was mayor in 1957 as this before. From 1962 to 1979 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Berne and presided him in office 1975 / 76th From 1979 to 1987 he was a member of the Senate and appeared in the Official year 1985/86 as Senate President. In his political positions, he devoted himself to agricultural policy.

Gerber stood before including the Association of beet growers and the sugar factory Aarberg Bernese farmers' association. From 1974 to 1988 he was president of the Swiss Farmers' Association, whose structures he greatly reformed by a statutes revision 1979.
