Peter Green (historian)

Peter Morris Green ( born December 22, 1924 in the UK ) is a British journalist, author and historian.

Life

Green served in World War II in the Royal Air Force in Burma. After the war he studied at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. In the following years he wrote several historical novels and worked as a journalist. In 1963 he moved with his family on the Greek island of Lesbos. There he worked as a translator, but then went to Athens, where he taught on subjects of classical music in the years 1966 until 1971. In 1982 he was appointed to the University of Texas at Austin. In 1986 he was appointed professor at Tulane University in New Orleans. Today ( 2012) he has been a professor at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and is a visiting professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
