Peter III Aaron

Petru Aron († 1467 ) or Petru III. was from October 1451 to February 1452, August 1454 to February 1455 and a third time, between May 1455 April 1457 Prince of Moldavia. When his father it was Prince Alexander the Good, his mother is unknown.

Petru walked out of the power struggles with Bogdan II, who fell in the battle of Răuşeni 1451, emerged victorious. Alexandru II also defeated him in the Battle of Movile from March 1455, after which he retired to Cetatea Albă in southern Bessarabia and died there.

In October 1455 Petru assured the Polish king of his loyalty, and confirming the 1408 grant trade privilege of his father for Polish merchants.

1456 Petru was willing to make the Ottomans a tribute from 2000 Galbeni (Romanian for "Yellow ", so Gulden ) in order to avert the danger of Turkish occupation. Already in April 1457 but was twice the son Bogdan, Stefan (later Stephen the Great rum. Ştefan cel Mare) defeated and had to flee to Poland and Transylvania Szeklerland later. From there he constantly provoked hostilities between Stefan and the Hungarian ruler Matthias Corvinus. In this campaign, this was captured and executed.
