Peter Karns

Peter Karns ( born October 24, 1945 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming ) is a former American professional biathlete.

Karns occurred since 1966 for the U.S. Biathlon Team. At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 he was able to win the sixth place in the individual race on the 14th Place and in the season. In addition, he participated in five World Cups 1969-1971 and in 1973 and 1974. 1973 and 1974 Karns was also American champion. Between 1973 and 1976 he served as coach for the biathlon team.

Karns has gained at the University of Utah with a degree in business administration. Later he erworb still the MBA at Montana State University. After ending his coaching career Karns moved back to Jackson Hole, where he has worked as a real estate agent. In 2010 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the U.S. Biathlon.
