Peter Mafany Musonge

Peter Mafany Musonge ( born December 3, 1942 in müa ) was 1996-2004 Prime Minister of Cameroon.

Early years

Musonge belongs to the ethnic group of the Bakweri and was born in müa in the department of Fako in the English-speaking West province.

He studied from 1962 to 1967 civil engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia, and then to 1968. Stanford University After he had completed his studies with a diploma, he returned in 1969 to Cameroon back. He has held leadership positions in the Ministry of Infrastructure and was director of government development organizations.

Politician

In politics he is a long-time supporter and confidant of the ruling since 1982, President Paul Biya. It belongs to the ruling party, Rassemblement du peuple démocratique camerounais ( RDPC ). From September 19 1996 to December 8, 2004, he was Prime Minister of Cameroon. In the parliamentary elections of June 30, 2002 his party won 133 of the 180 seats, the opposition parties have questioned the result. 2004, he led the campaign Biya for his re-election as president. After the election victory Biya he stepped back to allow a cabinet reshuffle.

Family

Musonge is married and father of four children.
