Peter Max

Peter Max ( * October 19, 1937 in Berlin as Peter Finkelstein ) is an American pop-art artist.

Born in Germany, he fled with his parents from the Nazis to Shanghai, China, where he grew up. After several trips in Asia and Africa, his family ended up briefly in Israel, before they moved to the U.S. in 1953. Max was trained at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts. After his studies he opened a design studio and has been successful as a designer with his books, posters and products. 1964 Max finished his studio work and began with its typical colorful print fabric drawings. Max's art was in the 1960s and 1970s, very influential in the advertising scene.

Peter Max has designed the bow of the cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway.
