Peter Porsch

Peter Porsch (* October 15, 1944 in Vienna ) is a German politician (The Left ) and German studies.

Profession

From 1962 to 1968 Porsch studied in Vienna German and English, from 1968 he put the German Studies at the Free University of Berlin, where he also studied political science. He received his doctorate there in 1972.

In 1973 he moved to the GDR, whose citizenship he assumed in 1979. He worked first as an assistant and later assistant professor at the Department of German Linguistics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. 1981 Porsch habilitation with a thesis on text assessment as a method for collecting linguistic- communicative norms. In 1982 he became a lecturer at the University of Leipzig, 1983/84 he was a guest lecturer at the Pedagogical University in Rzeszow. From 1988 to 1990 he was in Leipzig Professor of Language Theory and Sociology of Language, 1990-2005 for dialectology and sociolinguistics.

Policy

Porsch occurred in 1982, the SED. Since the Saxon state parliament election in October 1990, he was a member of the Landtag for the PDS. From 1991 to 1995 and from 1997 to 2001 he was chairman of the PDS in Saxony. From 1994 to July 2007 he was chairman of the PDS group and the Left Party in the Parliament of Saxony. From 2000 to 2003 he was one of the deputy national chairman of the PDS. In the state election on 19 September 2004, he became the leading candidate and challenger to Prime Minister Georg Milbradt ( CDU). The PDS could easily win votes in this election and was again the second largest party.
