Peter Rowe (politician)

Peter Rowe ( born March 10, 1807 in Crescent, New York, † April 17, 1876 in Schenectady, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Peter Rowe was born about five years before the outbreak of the British - American War in Crescent in Saratoga County. He completed his studies and then graduated from the Schenectady Academy. He then went to commercial transactions. He served as Chief Auditor at the New York Central Railroad. Between 1846 and 1850 he was mayor in Schenectady. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1852 for the 33rd Congress Rowe was in the 18th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Preston King on March 4, 1853. He retired after March 3, 1855 from the Congress.

On April 17, 1876, he died in Schenectady and was then buried in the Vale Cemetery.
