Peter Thomsen

Peter Thomsen ( born April 4, 1961 in Flensburg ) is a German eventing rider.

Career

Peter Thomsen grew up on a farm where he soon came with horses and horse riding in touch. His first equestrian experience was gained on a Shetland pony mare. As Thomsen was dropped at the age of about 10 years of this mare on horseback and thus suffered a multiple fracture of the arm, he was riding on first. At 14, he got a pony, with this he then began, first with little success, to ride on tournaments. A year later he got with the mare Tessa the horse that gave him his first success in sports; Tessa he rode his first cross-country competition. In 1985, he rode with Bassil ( a son of Tessa ) in Langenhagen his first versatility on M- level and was behind Hinrich Romeike second.

This was followed by apprenticeship with Thomas Rüder, eventers and father of Kai and Hans- Thorben Rüder, on the island of Fehmarn. As a result he studied with Dieter Baumann in Luhmühlen. In 1987, he took in Siekrug first time at a German Cup finals and was 15

Thomsen lives in Lindewitt. He has two children with his wife. In addition to the cavalry he goes to his job in sales and logistics. He is a graduate in Public Administration ( FH).

Participation in international championships

Overall, Peter Thomsen went to five World Championships and European Championships. 1996 was the year for Thomsen his first Olympic participation, but White Girl injured in the dressage competition. In the years 2000 and 2004 he was the reserve rider and therefore took no part in the Games.

In August 2008, Thomsen was in eventing at the Olympics in Hong Kong, together with Ingrid Klimke, Hinrich Romeike, Andreas Dibowski and Frank Ostholt Olympic gold medalist with the team and celebrated his biggest success. So his horse The Ghost of Hamish shied off-road ride, but he could not reach the top places in the individual competition. Four years later he took in London again at the Olympics in part, this time with Barny. With the team he again won the gold medal.

2009 Peter Thomsen received the Sports badge of Schleswig- Holstein. In November 2012 he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf, along with 163 other athletes.
