The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen ( Little Basset Griffon Vendeen ) is recognized by the FCI French breed (No. 67, Gr. 6, sec 1.3).

History

For a long time the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen the same standard as its bigger relative, the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, only in size, they differed. However, he was just as heavy as the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen at a smaller size and had crooked legs, so their use did not give good results. M. Abel Dezamy therefore created its own breed standard for the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. Now not only the size of this breed was smaller, but all dimensions also decreased in proportion to body size. The result was a good hunting dog, the first French Championship for hunting hares a pack of Petit Basset Griffon Vendéens even won the first place.

Description

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen is a 34 to 38 cm large hunting dog with harsh hair, which should not be too long.

It is available in black with white spotting ( white-black), black with tan markings (black and red), black with tan markings, fawn with white spotting ( white and orange) and fawn with black coat, white spotting ( tricolor ) sand color with black overlay with or without white spotting and fawn with black overlay.

His ears are soft, narrow and thinly covered with long hair.

Nature

This breed loves to hunt. She also likes scrub and thorn hedges. She is courageous, obedient, yet idiosyncratic.
