Petter Hugsted

Alf Petter Hugsted ( born July 11, 1921 in Kongsberg, † May 19, 2000 ) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

During the German occupation of Norway Hugsted was imprisoned fangeleir in Grini. After his release, he was in his sport again and won at the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz the gold medal ahead of his team mate Birger Ruud. Since the Nordic World Ski Championships were held this year at the Olympic games, Hugsted was with his Olympic title at the same time world champion.

In 1948, he was also jumping on the Holmenkollen ski jump in second. In the same year he was named Sportsman of the Year.

Hugsted was also successful as a football player and was appointed in the meantime in the Norwegian B- team.

After the end of his career he built with his friend Birger Ruud the Kongsberg Ski Museum on.

In Kongsberg Petter Hugsteds vei (German Petter Hugsted - way ) is named after him.
