Pfyn

Pfyn is a municipality in the district of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland.

History

The name comes from the Roman ad fines ( " on the border ," meaning between the provinces of Raetia and Gaul ) back. The remains of a late antique Roman fortress are still visible. The military road led from Vitudurum (Upper Winterthur) on Pfyn to Arbor felix ( Arbon ). The place, however, was inhabited in the Neolithic period. Finds from the period around 4000-3500 BC, which were made in 1944 for the first time, this period gave the name Pfyn Culture. Pfyn is one of the oldest settlements in eastern Switzerland. Because together found the Christianised in the 3rd century partly Gallo-Romans in the Roman fort, Pfyn also had one of the first churches in Thurgau.

Municipal reform

In Pfyn is taught in the little town of hills in two school buildings. The children come from either the Schülerweg, the mill lane, the Bergli or by Rumpelgasse the school system. The school building castle with its large rooms offers plenty of space for teaching. In 1993, the plant with the schoolhouse fort was expanded. Exposed walls from the Roman period have been preserved.

In 1996, the multi- class system was introduced. Since then, the children in lower grades (1st - 3rd grade) and middle school are taught ( 4th-6th grade. ). The gym was built in 1968. The two-storey building is also used by clubs. In summer, the Frankrichli with generous lawn for gym class and leisure activities.

Pfyn belongs to the upper circle rubbish home. On a well-developed bicycle trail -school students get safely to the upper center Rietwies. The facility is located on the western edge of the village rubbish home, about 3 km from Pfyn.

The kindergarten is located in the wine press building in Städtli and in the fort.

2008, the new sports field south of the VSP area was inaugurated. The course can be used in both summer and winter, as the main square is provided with artificial turf.

Special

Pfyn was proclaimed for the years 2011/2012 to the Cultural Capital of Switzerland. The lake below the Städtlis has the unusual name Frankriichli.
