The silk -haired Phazelie ( Phacelia sericea ) is a species of the genus Phacelia in the family Boraginaceae ( Boraginaceae ). This type is a skin irritant.

Features

The silk -haired Phazelie is a perennial, herbaceous plant, which reaches stature heights of 10 to 30 centimeters. Leaves and stems are covered for the most part densely with appressed white hairs. The inflorescence resembles a candle. The crown is usually blue or purple colored, rarely white. Are located at the base of the corolla tube at the base of the stamens 10 scales, which are arranged in pairs and oblong to lanceolate.

The flowering period extends from May to June.

Occurrence

The silk -haired Phazelie occurs on open and wooded rocky slopes at elevations from 2100 to 2700 meters in western North America.

Use

The silk -haired Phazelie is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens.
