Philip I, Count of Katzenelnbogen

Philip I of Katzenelenbogen, called the Elder ( * 1402, † 1479 ) was Count of Katzenelenbogen 1444 to 1479, and the last male descendant of the Counts of Katzenelenbogen ( his two sons died before him).

His parents were John IV of Katzenelenbogen (younger line) and Anne of Katzenelenbogen (older line), which together resulted in the two lines of the family in 1402 again.

Philip I married Anna of Württemberg (1408-1471), daughter of Eberhard IV of Württemberg, called the Younger, on 24 February 1422 in Darmstadt. 1456 Philip I procured the Pope a divorce from bed and board.
