Philipp Ernst, 8th Prince of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst

Maria Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe- Waldenburg - Schillingsfuerst, also called Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe ( born June 5, 1853 in Schillingsfuerst, † December 26, 1915 in Bad Reichenhall ) was the first President of the German Olympic Committee. From 1901 to 1915 he was head of the House Hohenlohe.

Life

Prince Philipp Ernst was the eldest son of the Chancellor Prince Clovis Hohenlohe (1819-1901) and Princess Marie zu Sayn -Wittgenstein- Berleburg (1829-1897), but is in contrast to his brother Alexander Prinz zu Hohenlohe (1862 -1924 ) not politically emerged.

In addition to managing the small caste domination Schillingsfuerst he devoted himself particularly to the expansion of the spa Podebrad on the same Bohemian dominion which had won his first wife in the marriage. Prince Philip was the first President of the German Olympic Committee.

Prince Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe died on December 26, 1915 in Bad Reichenhall. He was 62 years old. As a result of his death was his brother Moritz head of the family and the Prince of Hohenlohe.

Family

Prince Philipp Ernst married on January 10, 1882 in Vienna Princess Chariclée Ypsilanti ( 1863-1912 ). Prince Philipp Ernst and Princess Chariclée had two daughter:

  • Stephanie, Princess of Hohenlohe ( born September 23, 1882 in Schillingsfuerst; † September 23, 1882 in Schillingsfuerst )
  • Mary, Princess of Hohenlohe ( born August 7, 1886 in Podiebrad; † January 19, 1897 in Podiebrad )

After the death of Princess Chariclée he married on August 6, 1913 in Edinburgh Gindra Henriette ( 1884-1952 ), from 1914 wife of Hellberg. The couple had one son:

  • Alexander Hellberg ( born March 19, 1914 in Munich, † August 24 1944 in givors in the department of Rhône)
