Philipp Gonon

Philip C. Gonon (* October 15, 1955 in Flensburg ) is a Swiss educationalist with a focus on vocational education and training.

Gonon studied from 1974 to 1976 Law and Journalism at the University of Fribourg, then in Zurich and Berlin pedagogy. From 1986 to 1992 he was Assistant Professor at the Pedagogical Institute of the University of Bern. There he completed his habilitation in 1997. From 1999 to 2004 Gonon was C4 professor of occupational and corporate training at the University of Trier. Since 2004 he is Professor of Vocational Education at the University of Zurich.

Gonon has researched Georg Kerschensteinerschule, about the relationship between school and work and the European VET reforms. He specializes in historical and international comparative vocational training research. He also published on topics such as philosophy and theory of ( vocational) education. Evaluation, quality assurance and modularisation in VET are other research topics Philipp Gonons.

As a founding member of the international network Vetculture (since 1995) has Gonon approaches - with the Swiss dual ( trialen ) training model as a counterpoint - contributed to the European VET debate.
